Cast news – CRAIG REVEL HORWOOD TO STAR AS ‘MISS HANIGAN’ IN ANNiE

 

Michael Harrison and David Ian are delighted to announce that Craig Revel Horwood will star as ‘Miss Hannigan’ in Annie at Wales Millennium Centre this summer.

 

Craig is joine­d by Alex Bourne as ‘Oliver Warbucks’, Richard Meek as ‘Rooster’, Jenny Gayner as ‘Lily’ and Carolyn Maitland as ‘Grace Farrell’. The title role of ‘Annie’ is shared by Faye Katsande, Ava Smith and Freya Yates. They are joined by three teams of young performers who play the girls in Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.

 

Craig Revel Horwood is probably best known as a judge on BBC1’s “Strictly Come Dancing”. He returns to the part of ‘Miss Hannigan’ having played the role to critical acclaim in this production in both the West End and on the 2015/16 UK tour.

 

This production recently ran for an extended season in the West End following a sell-out tour of the UK and Ireland in 2015/16 as well as a recent sell-out season in Toronto.

 

Set in 1930s New York during The Great Depression, brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery and torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. Determined to find her real parents, her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. With its award-winning book and score, this stunning new production includes the unforgettable songs ‘It’s the Hard Knock Life’, ‘Easy Street’ and ‘Tomorrow’.

 

Annie will be at Wales Millennium Centre from 19 -31 August. Please note: Craig Revel Horwood will not appear on Monday 26 or Friday 30 August 2019.

Following a highly successful West End run for two and a half years and a sell-out tour in 2017/18, Beautiful – The Carole King Musical returns to The Centre in March 2020.

 

This Olivier, Tony and Grammy award-winning show is based on the early life and career of legendary singer/songwriter Carole King, and tells the inspiring true story of her remarkable rise to stardom.

 

With a book by Douglas McGrath and words and music by Gerry Coffin, Carole King, Barry Mann and Cynthia Well, Beautiful – The Carole King Musical  features hit songs (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Take Good Care of my Baby, You’ve Got a Friend, So Far Away, It Might As Well Rain Until September and many more. Casting is yet to be announced

children’s open auditions – nativity! the musical

 

The producers of the smash-hit Nativity! The Musical are delighted to announce children’s auditions in Cardiff to find the cast of Oakmoor School when the show comes to Wales Millennium Centre this November.

 

In order to take part, all children must be:

– Aged between 9 and 12 years old by 1 September 2019

– No taller than 4ft 7 (140cm)

– Characterful but disciplined with strong singing, acting and dance skills, and a passion for performing

– Living within one-hour commute from Wales Millennium Centre to be in the production in Cardiff.

-Able to perform on all dates at Wales Millennium Centre for the Cardiff production.

 

To audition, children must apply with Children’s Casting Directors, Keston & Keston at www.kestonandkestoncasting.com. Auditions for children in the Wales Millennium Centre production will take place on 27 May in Cardiff. The deadline for applications is Thursday 16 May.

 

Featuring all of your favourite sing-a-long songs from the smash-hit films, including Sparkle and Shine, Nazareth and One Night One Moment, Nativity! The Musical promises to be the perfect feel-good comedy for all the family.

cast news – MATT TERRY TO STAR IN madagascar the musical

 

X-Factor winner Matt Terry stars in Madagascar the Musical as Alex the Lion, which comes to Wales Millennium Centre on the 6th of August 2019. Matt Terry won the popular ITV Show in 2016, and since then he’s been recording music all over the world. After a top 3 hit with Ed Sheeran, he released his debut album in 2017.

 

Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar the Musical follows all of your favourite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

new event – saturday supper clwb

 

Saturday Supper Clwb, a new evening of food and the best cabaret in town presented by Wales Millennium Centre, is launching this June! Each Saturday of the month will feature an exciting night out – themed drag, musicals, burlesque and comedy.

 

The nights will be curated by Connie Orff (Drag), David Mahoney (Musicals), FooFooLaBelle (Burlesque) and Leroy Brito (Comedy). Each will be inviting the best local, national and international talent to entertain guests as they enjoy food from The Centre’s new small plates menu.

 

Saturday Supper Clwb includes entertainment, dinner and drinks in one set price. For £30, guests are treated to a Bellini cocktail on arrival, three small plates from Wales Millennium Centre’s contemporary Welsh menu, live performances and a dessert cocktail to finish off the night.

 

Our small plates are designed for sharing, live acts designed for entertaining, and Saturday nights are designed for enjoying, making Saturday Supper Clwb nights the ultimate combination of good food and a good time.

NEW SHOW – Graham nash

 

Legendary singer-songwriter Graham Nash hits the road in July with new UK tour dates as he continues to support the release of “Over the Years – a two-disc collection of his best-known songs from the past 50 years. Graham Nash is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and two-time songwriter Hall of Fame Inductee, Grammy Award winner, a New York Times best-selling author, and Officer of the Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)

 

On the road, Nash will be accompanied by longtime collaborator and 2016 album “This Path Tonight” producer, Shane Fontayne on guitars and vocals, and former CSN keyboard player and vocalist, Todd Caldwell. On this new tour, Nash will perform songs from his solo recordings, weaving in anecdotes and tales from his career.

Max is back! Following a series of sell-out performances in 2018, Max Boyce’s tour has been extended into 2019 due to overwhelming public demand, and he will be coming to Wales Millennium Centre in October.

 

Max Boyce has been entertaining people all over the world for more than 40 years with his ability to paint pictures with word and song. A huge new young audience has recently discovered this exceptional entertainer, taking him into their hearts and making him a true modern-day folk hero.

Cast news – grease

 

Following a highly acclaimed, sold-out, eight-week run at Curve over Christmas 2016, the producers of the 2019 UK & Ireland Tour of GREASE are delighted to announce its cast. Playing the lead roles will be Dan Partridge (Cats; Hairspray; Mamma Mia!) as Danny, Martha Kirby as Sandy, Louis Gaunt (Oklahoma; Sweet Charity) as Kenickie, and Rhianne-Louise McCaulksy (Bat out of Hell – The Musical; The Book of Mormon) as Rizzo. The show is being choreographed by Arlene Phillips, who has said “This new production is going to be so edgy, vibrant and certainly takes a new look at this very exciting musical.”

 

The 1978 film adaptation of GREASE celebrated its 40th anniversary last year and is the highest-grossing live action musical of all time, featuring beloved songs Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin, Hopelessly Devoted to You and You’re The One That I Want.

COMING SOON – milkshake! live: milkshake monkey’s musical

 

Milkshake! Monkey’s Musical is a new all singing, all dancing preschool musical extravaganza, which will be arriving at The Centre on 12 May.

Starring alongside Milkshake! Monkey will be 2 channel presenters, as well as Fireman Sam, Noddy, Shimmer & Shine, Digby Dragon, Wissper, Nella the Princess Knight and Floogals.

 

Kids will learn amazing songs and bops with their favourite Milkshake! friends, and watch as the music, the lights, the costumes and show come together!

COMING SOON – joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat

 

Retelling the biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colours, Bill Kenwright’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat returns to the Centre. Jaymi Hensley, a member of 2013’s BBC ‘British Breakthrough Band’ of the year Union J, will don the Technicolor Dreamcoat and lead the company in his first role in a major musical.

 

With music by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, featuring songs Go, Go, Go Joseph, Any Dream Will Do, Jacob and Sons, Close Every Door to Me and any more, Joseph continues to enthral audiences around the world.

COMING SOON – urdd national eisteddfod 2019

 

One of Europe’s largest annual touring youth festivals, the Urdd National Eisteddfod, is visiting Cardiff Bay during May half-term.

 

This fun-filled family festival for all ages brings something for the whole family to discover, with performances in the pavilion to sports sessions, live music, colourful stalls and so much more. For the first time, there will be free entry for everyone to enjoy the Eisteddfod ‘Maes’ (festival site). Come and enjoy this unique Welsh festival.

 

The Urdd National Eisteddfod 2019 will be at Wales Millennium Centre from 27 May–1 June 2019
