An exhibition commissioned by Wales Millennium Centre will run from 8 September – 25 November around the Centre showing some of the best works from Universities across Wales.

The exhibition, named Graduate, has been curated by the internationally acknowledged Welsh artist Peter Finnemore and will exhibit 55 works by 35 graduates from nine Universities across Wales.

The exhibition showcases not only the talent and creativity of the graduates in the country in which they have trained, but also highlights the personal insight, opinion and interpretation of the curator. This selection focuses on a range of artwork and media, designed to interact with the building and the audience including installation, 2D and video works.

Peter Finnemore has lectured, curated and exhibited works across the world. Born in Llanelli, where he currently resides, his studies in the visual arts started at the Dyfed College of Art in Carmarthen where he completed the Foundation Art Certificate course. He then went on to study at the Glasgow School of Art and finally completed a Masters of Fine Art at University of Michigan, USA.

Peter Finnemore said “Viewing the arts degree shows throughout Wales was a rewarding experience which gave insight into the range, intelligence and quality of the visual arts produced within the nation. The visual arts are a plurality of different medias and traditions; this is reflected within the broad range of applied and fine art courses on offer in Wales”.

Works will be exhibited by graduates from Aberystwyth University; Bridgend College; University of Wales, Trinity St Davids, Coleg Sir Gar; University of Glamorgan; Cardiff Metropolitan University; Swansea Metropolitan University and University of Wales, Newport.

The opening of Graduate takes place this evening  (7Sept 2012) in the Glanfa Foyer, with live music programmed by Sŵn.  The exhibition, Graduate, can be seen for free around Wales Millennium Centre from 08 Sep to 25 Nov 2012.  For further information please visit: www.wmc.org.uk
