Bro Radio, the local Community Radio station for the Vale of Glamorgan has announced its plans to celebrate ten years on air in March 2019.

During Gareth Knights Breakfast show on Monday 1st October, he announced that the station would launch the stations first Community Awards, an event which aimed to celebrate the best of the local community.

Bro Radio’s Community Awards ceremony has been sponsored by Wessex Garages Nissan, Hadfield Road Cardiff a business that has been instrumental in helping the organization to grow its presence at events across the Vale of Glamorgan.

General Manager Gareth Howells said “This is a fantastic idea and shows how far the station has come on over the last few years.”

“Our involvement has grown along with the station and we are really proud to support this event and continue to support Bro Radio and the good work that it undertakes in the Vale of Glamorgan”

When nominations open, members of the public will be able to nominate outstanding individuals in the third sector, sport and business in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Community Award Categories include:

Teacher of the Year, sponsored by West Quay Estates and lettings.

Young Person of the year, sponsored by Fun Harbour Barry Island.

Volunteer of the year, sponsored by Glamorgan Voluntary Services.

Charity of the Year, sponsored by McDonalds Barry

Community Event of the year, sponsored by Barry Round Table.

Sports star of the year, sponsored by Cariad Café Bar.

Sporting achievement of the year, sponsored by Sully Sports and Social Club.

Bro’s Good Egg Award, sponsored by HRA Accounting.

Making a difference through Business, sponsored by the Glamorgan GEM.

Triumph over adversity award, sponsored by Vale of Glamorgan Council.
