Gaia. Photo by Natural Environment Research Council (NERC)Installation artist Luke Jerram’s incredible touring artwork, Gaia, will be the centerpiece of a six-week celebration of our planet at Wales Millennium Centre this summer.

Measuring a staggering seven metres in diameter, Gaia features detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface floating in 3D, giving visitors an astronaut’s view of our incredible planet. It will be free to see inside the Centre’s Glanfa foyer from Saturday 20th July 2019.

Other FREE family activities in the Centre’s Summer of Love include:

  • Sustainability workshops and community performances
  • An opportunity to toast the planet on the Centre’s new sun-filled terrace
  • Explore the world in the Virtual Reality arcade

The Gaia sculpture is 1.8 million times smaller than Earth, and each centimetre of the internally-lit sculpture represents 18km of the Earth’s surface.

Gaia was created in partnership with the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), Bluedot and the UK Association for Science and Discovery Centres.
