Having seen Wicked several times previous – five in total, three in Cardiff, twice in London, it’s fair to say I’m a bit of a Wicked fan!

If you don’t know the full story behind Wicked, this might help:

When Dorothy famously triumphed over the Wicked Witch of the West, we only ever heard one side of the story. Gregory Maguire‘s acclaimed 1995 novel, ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’, re-imagines the Land of Oz, creating a parallel universe to the familiar story written by L. Frank Baum and first published as ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ in 1900. Click here for more!

There are iconic songs, Popular, For Good and the awe inspiring Defying Gravity.

This musical phenomenon takes audiences on an emotional journey, exploring the backstory of Elphaba, the misunderstood Wicked Witch of the West, and her friendship with Glinda. The cast brings incredible vocal power to Stephen Schwartz’s score, delivering fan-favorites like “Defying Gravity” with jaw-dropping energy. Laura Pick as Elphaba was every bit of amazing as the others I’ve seen (and the second time I’ve seen her also), and Sarah O’Connor as Glinda, playing the part in the performance I saw was incredible too.

I’ve seen this production in London and previously in Cardiff, and I would go as far as to say, this tour is the best version I’ve seen. Sometimes with a touring production the main feel or sound is not as complete, but this time, you feel like you’re seeing the West End production, it’s that good overall.

Spellbinding and unforgettable! Wicked at Cardiff’s Wales Millennium Centre dazzles with powerhouse vocals, stunning visuals, and a story that’ll have you rooting for the misunderstood.

Perfect for both longtime fans and newcomers, it’s a must-see that enchants, entertains, and stays with you long after the curtain falls.

Ahead of the film coming out on November 22nd, this is a perfect opportunity to head down the Yellow Brick Road (A4232) and see for yourself.

Wicked plays until 23rd November 2024 at Wales Millenium Centre.
